Sex Education

feature photo

Sex is ubiquitous. We cannot pretend it does not exist nor isolate our children from the messages they are bombarded with everyday about sex and sexuality. Some contend that giving children information about sex will lead to curiosity then to experimentation but let us play with the real truth that we become curious when we know too little about something (like putting up wireless nanny cam to see what nanny has been doing). When we want to know everything about something, that effectively kills our curiosity and the need for experimentation. Teenagers have sex not because they gain knowledge about contraception but rather because their hormones are raging, media and movies romanticize sex and because they do not received enough information about the risks and consequences of sex. So lay out the cold, hard facts. Speak of the risks and consequences of sexual activity and view sex education in a clinical manner.
